From
ancient times Aurangabad has been a place of great importance due to its
location on the famous "Silk Route" that traversed across the breadth
of Asia to reach Europe. Textiles, embroidered finery and various kinds of beads
made in nearby Paithan were exported to the markets of Greece, Rome and Egypt.
Under royal dynasties such as the Satavahanas, Vakatakas, Chalukyas and Rashtrakutas,
Aurangabad developed as a centre of culture and learning. It gave birth to or
provided inspiration for great poet saints and philosophers like Dyaneshwar,

Lucknow
- the hallmark of cultural extravaganza, known all over the world for its many
splendours. A city that has a magical charm, a charm that's forever and a charm
that's apart. Be it the cultural charm or the monumental one, all are well conserved
here to make Lucknow " The city of many splendours".
Walking through the lanes and by-lanes of Chowk and Aminabad one finds Lucknow
of yore. The 'tehzib' or mannerism is still prominent and a topic of great
appreciation. This is a city that still speaks the language of "aap-janab"
and the dictum of "pehle aap" is still a part of everyday life for
a true Lakhnawi. - and so natural it is - Aadab or salutation which has its
own sophistication and style. Dress forms though have changed noticeably in
the span of a century, yet the beauty and charisma of Chikan - the intricate
and delicate hand embroidery, still rules the wardrobe. Lucknow is in fact
among a few cities that duly understands the grace of the 'dupattas' or the
covering cloth.

Ahemdabad Car Rental

Ahmedabad
or Ahmadabad is the largest city in Gujarat and the sixth largest city in India
with a population of almost 5 million. The city is also sometimes called Karnavati,
an older name and as Amdavad in colloquial Gujarati. Ahmedabad is the administrative
center of Ahmedabad District, and was the former capital of Gujarat State from
1960 to 1970, when Gandhinagar replaced it.
The city was founded in the 15th century by Sultan Ahmed Shah on the Sabarmati
river, and served as capital of the Sultanate of Gujarat. The historic center
of Ahmedabad is presently a thriving business district. Ahmedabad is mainly
divided in two parts, the old city, and new city. The old city has developed
rather haphazardly, and most of the roads are narrow and crowded during business
hours. The new city has well-structured, wide roads. A wide variety of shops
and businesses exist in the city.
In addition to its role as a commercial center, Ahmedabad is also an important
industrial center, with chemical and textile industries. Ahmedabad is often
described as the Manchester of the East, because of its once-booming textile
industry. Ahmedabad is a very beautiful city.

name of the city is derived from Goddess of power known as Shri Chandika whose
temple is on Chandigarh-Kalka Road. The temple is known by the name of Chandi
Mandir. It is considered to be an ancient site and has a major religious significance
for Hindus.
After India's independence from British rule Punjab became a state without
a capital. Though there was a temporary secretariat at Shimla in Himachal
Pradesh, the political leadership decided on the construction of a modern
and accessible capital. This was Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru's Dream City of modern
India. The city was named as Chandigarh. This is the first planned city of
India.
The responsibility for the design was given to the French architect Le Corbusier
or the Crow. With the help of his cousin Pierre Jeanneret, and that of the
English couple Maxwell Fry and Jane Drew (alongwith a number of Indian architects
prominent amongst them Chief planner Narinder S. Lamba & Chief Engineer
J.C. Verma) Chandigarh, the present capital, came into existence at the foothills
of the Shivaliks (the first of three parallel chains of the Himalayas).
It was built in 1953 and serves as the capital of two states, i.e. Punjab
and Haryana. It is administered by the Central Government and is hence classified
as an Union Territory. Since 1986 there has been much talk about officially
handling it to Punjab on the basis of demography. The issue however continues
to be a matter of discussion with many political disputes.

Kolkata Car Rental

Also
known as the City of Joy, Calcutta or Kolkota is the proud intellectual capital
of the country. Calcutta is also home to a number of historical as well as excursion
sites. The Ganges (called the Hooghly in Calcutta) is still the inspiration,
as it was to Job Charnok, East India Company agent, who reached the shores in
August 1690, to found the city. Calcutta, after London, was the British Empires
second city. Calcutta is a city of baffling paradoxes, a city that leaves its
stamp on one's mind forever.
There is so much to see in this incredible city. A million people from every
corner of India stream across the massive Howrah Bridge, swarm around the
Hooghly river, flock along the busy avenues, through its narrow lanes. Then
you arrive at the great expanse of the Maidan, the heart of Calcutta. Fort
William, Victoria Memorial, Raj Bhavan, Palladian villas and the Botanical
Gardens, the busy streets of Shyambazar, College Street and Kalighat, bookshops,
art galleries, coffee houses all are part of Calcutta's varied and vibrant
shades, the birthplace of Rabindranath Tagore and cradle of the Indian Renaissance.

Cochin Car Rental

A
cluster of islands and narrow peninsulas, Cochin or Kochi is perhaps the second
best poet on the Western Ghats. Known as 'Queen of the Arabian Sea', it reflects
the best of all that Kerala has to offer. A rich past and a vibrant present,
Kochi gained the status of the business hub of the region long back. Comprising
of mainland of Ernakulam, the islands of Willington, Bolgatty and Gundu in the
harbor, Fort Cochin and Mattancherry on the southern peninsula, and Vypeen Island
north of Fort Cochin, all the parts of Kochi are well-linked by ferries.
Being a seaport, many foreigners came to the place and one can clearly see
the influence of Chinese, Jews, Arabs and Europeans in its culture and lifestyles
of the natives. It boasts of the oldest church in India, the famous old-traditioned
Chinese fishing nets, 500-year-old Portuguese houses, old tiled houses built
in the Chinese pagoda style, synagogues, a Jewish community whose roots go
back to the Diaspora and mosques. The harbor is still hale and hearty and
the main exports of the region are pepper, seafood, rubber and coir. However,
it attracts tourists because of its serene backwaters, beautiful lagoons fringed
by swaying coconut palms and picturesque islands. The older parts of Fort
Cochin and Mattanchery look more like a fusion of medieval Portugal, Holland
and an English country village into one and are situated on the tropical Malabar
Coast. Today, Cochin is one of India's largest ports and a major naval base.

Delhi Car Rental

Through
a sweltering bazaar with each vendor crying out louder than the next, clamouring
through a sweaty crowd, a beggar tugs at your shirt as the sticky stench of
the city pierces your nostrils. Navigate your way across the road through a
perennial traffic jam of blasting horns and angry shouts, and suddenly youll
find yourself stepping through the trees into a deserted courtyard, flanked
by gurgling ponds below the huge glittering dome of an ornately patterned mosque.
This is Delhi, city of contrasts, where an elephant can overtake an overheated
Italian sportscar on the streets, where colonial mansion stands next to squatter
slum, and where cows are revered, but musicians are labelled untouchable.
The citys pace is chaotic, yet fairly relaxed, and makes it ideal for
exploring. Youre certain to be confronted with some strange and exotic
sights.
